North Gate

In early 1789, when the king moved the capital of Quang Trung Phu Xuan (Hue), Thang Long Citadel after hundreds of years of existence as the capital of the Republic of Vietnam only a North Wall.

Doan Mon facing south as this is the most important direction in the traditional architecture of the ancient Vietnamese. Built from the Le and renovations, renovations to the Nguyen Dynasty, Doan Mon is one of the few buildings not destroyed when Thanh Hanoi French army was dismantled in the late 19th century.

Ba Dinh square
